When Concrete Lifting Will Not Work

Concrete lifting is a strong option when the slab is mostly intact and unsupported. It is not always the right answer when the concrete, drainage, or structure needs a different fix first.

What the inspection is looking for

A short site visit usually gives enough evidence to separate a good polyjacking candidate from a slab that needs replacement or another repair first.

Slab condition

Mostly intact concrete with settlement is a better fit than concrete that is shattered, crumbling, or too thin to stabilize well.

Soil support

Voids and weak support can often be filled. Active washout or drainage problems may need correction before lifting.

Repair goal

The goal is a safer, more usable slab. If appearance or structural performance requires new concrete, replacement may be the better call.
